Yamunotri Temple is one of the four sacred Char Dham pilgrimage destinations in Uttarakhand and the source of the holy Yamuna River. Dedicated to Goddess Yamuna, the temple is located in the Uttarkashi district.
Situated at an altitude of around 3,293 meters, Yamunotri is surrounded by scenic mountains, hot water springs, and natural beauty. Pilgrims must trek approximately 5–6 km from Janki Chatti to reach the temple.
A unique feature of Yamunotri is the Surya Kund hot spring, where devotees cook rice as a sacred offering. The temple holds great religious importance, and visiting it is believed to cleanse sins and protect from untimely death.
The best time to visit is from May to October.
